Skills and experience

John Diaz is the U.S. Middle Market Head of Underwriting for Zurich North America, where he is responsible for overall portfolio strategy and execution, including risk selection, pricing, portfolio stewardship and product management aligned to Middle Market's profitable growth goals. He joined Zurich in 2008.

Prior to his current role, Diaz served as the Chief Operating Officer for U.S. Middle Market. Previously, he served in various leadership roles within Zurich North America's National Accounts business unit, including Regional Vice President for Large Casualty and Head of Business Performance Management & Execution. Before joining Zurich, he held leadership positions in operations, finance and distribution at AIG. He also is a KAMP Leadership Award recipient and a fellow of the Partnership for New York City's David Rockefeller Fellows program.

Educational background

Diaz has a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Rutgers University and completed the Executive Scholar Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
