John Diaz is President of U.S. Middle Market, Programs, Direct Markets and Captives at Zurich U.S. He also will continue to serve as President of Customer & Distribution Management until a successor is named. Diaz reports to Zurich U.S. CEO Alex Wells and is a member of the Zurich U.S. Leadership Team.
In his dual role, Diaz leads one of Zurich's largest and fastest-growing businesses while continuing to strengthen relationships with distributors and customers across key markets. He is responsible for advancing underwriting and growth strategies, enhancing Zurich's market presence, and helping connect customers and distribution partners to the full breadth of Zurich's products, services and risk management capabilities.
Diaz previously was U.S. Middle Market Head of Underwriting and Chief Operating Officer for U.S. Middle Market.
Earlier in his tenure at Zurich, he served in various leadership roles within Zurich’s National Accounts business unit, including Regional Vice President for Large Casualty and Head of Business Performance Management & Execution. Before joining Zurich in 2008, he held leadership positions in operations, finance and distribution at AIG.
He received the peer-nominated KAMP Leadership Award in 2018.

John Diaz is a fellow of the Partnership for New York City's David Rockefeller Fellows program. He also serves on the Boards of Futures and Options of NYC and the Spencer Educational Foundation.
Educational background
Diaz has a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Rutgers University. He completed the Executive Scholar Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Zurich Insurance Leadership Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
