John Mizzi

Skills and experience

John Mizzi is the U.S. Middle Market Chief Operating Officer for Zurich North America, where he is responsible for managing the regional field underwriting teams, overseeing day-to-day operations of the business, and designing and implementing business strategies to profitably grow Middle Market. Most recently, Mizzi served as the U.S. Middle Market Head of Industry Practices.

Mizzi joined Zurich in 2021 from Blackboard Insurance Company in New York, where he was Executive Vice President and Head of Growth and Underwriting. He also has held key leadership roles at CNA and Chubb during his 30-year career and previously served as the Underwriting Manager for Zurich Global Express.

Educational background

Mizzi received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Villanova University and a master’s degree in business administration in marketing from St. John’s University in Queens, New York.
